How to get Kazan

Modern Kazan is one of the largest transport centers of Russia, connected with other countries by railway, motor, water and air transport. The transport infrastructure of the city includes the International airport «Kazan», railway station, bus service station and river port. You can choose any transport you like to get to Kazan.

The airport

If you arrive by plane.
Air way is the basic and most convenient way to get to Kazan from abroad. Runways of International airport «Kazan» allow maintaining all types of planes. «Tatarstan», Lufthansa, «Aeroflot», Transaero, S-7, «SkyExpres» and other airlines carry out regular and charter flights to Kazan. The airport connects with 87 cities of 47 countries of the world. The network of inter-regional air service is well developed – airlines open new and new flights to cities of Russia. Flight time to Moscow is 1 hour 20 minutes; to Saint-Petersburg is 3 hours 40 minutes. The distance between airport and the centre of the City of Kazan is 22km that takes approximately 30 minutes by car.

River port

If you come by motor ship.
The Kazan river port is one of traffic centers of Kazan, providing tourist, passenger and freight traffic on the rivers of Russia. The basic highway of ship navigation is the Volga river. Motor ships come into the Kazan river port from many Russian cities; popular tourist routes go through Kazan. The port is equipped with modern moorages which are capable to accept liners of the river-sea class. Time of water travel of rout Moscow-Kazan is 5 days; Saint-Petersburg – Kazan – 7-10 days. JSC «Tatflot» develops water excursions across the Volga river to historical places of Tatarstan on comfortable motor ships «Moscow», «Admiral», «Ohm» and high-speed ships «Meteor» and «Voshod». There is a yacht-club «Locomotive» in the Kazan river port, which is the basic centre of the Kazan sailing sport. Here the parking for the big sailing vessels is equipped. The water area of the Volga river near Kazan has convenient spaces for yachting. A command of Tatarstan is the constant participant of competitions of different level. «The Kazan Kremlin Cup» – the competition collecting 150 yachts, is held in Kazan.

Railway station

If you arrive by train.
The railway station of Kazan is a large Russian railways center. Daily it accepts about 100 trains of distant and near following. The main building of railway station «Kazan» is the monument of architecture of the beginning of the XX century. In 1998 the building has been reconstructed, the station infrastructure was renovated according to modern requirements. From recent time there is a post of round-the-clock tickets’ sale, booked in post-office or through the Internet. On Gorky railway the firm train «Tatarstan», equipped with carriages of higher comfort and premium class, is popular. A firm train covers the distance from Moscow to Kazan in 10 hours 30 minutes.

Road service station

If you arrive by bus.
The Kazan road service station is located in Vakhitovsky district of Kazan, near to river port. Buses from cities of the Republic of Tatarstan and neighbor regions come to the Kazan road service station. The sale of tickets for the international trips such as Kazan – Baku and Kazan – Aktyubinsk is organized in road service station, thanks to the cooperation with the international carriers. Cloak room, two cafes, first-aid post and other necessary services are organized to the service of passengers. The long-distance bus is the most inexpensive vehicle in Kazan. The rout from Samara to Kazan will take 8 hours, from Cheboksary to Kazan – 4 hours.
